DESIGNED BY

Olaf Kitzig

The designer Olaf Kitzig has been involved in creative processes, in the design of rooms and objects, for what feels like his entire life. After initially learning the trade of spray painter and varnisher, he completed further design-related training courses and became a self-employed interior designer at the age of 27. He has headed the internationally successful Kitzig Design Studios, with branches in Düsseldorf, Bochum and Lippstadt, for over 25 years. Together with his team, he realises projects for renowned brands such as Hilton, Hyatt, Marriott, Lufthansa or DB. The wide spectrum of interior design projects ranges from exclusive five-star hotels to company headquarters, flagship stores and luxurious private homes.

In parallel, he works on his own projects, anything that appeals to him, is challenging, as well as enjoyable. Whether furniture, objects, fashion or cufflinks, he‘s always most interested in trying something new, combining the familiar with the unfamiliar, experimenting with new materials.

He draws his inspiration from art, fashion, from observing social trends, and from creative exchanges with friends and colleagues.

This also led to his first carpet collection in cooperation with JAB Anstoetz. It includes a multifaceted choice of geometric and organic patterns and numerous colourways.

„What drives us? What fascinates us? An idea, a thought, that first matures in our heads and then manifests itself as an object in form, colour and material.“

INSPIRATION

Das Wesen der Menschen

The „Daydreams“ collection consists of eight basic designs that are available in a wide range of formats and colour combinations. The original design concept is based on what makes people human: being curious about science and technology, being fascinated by nature, and continuously confronting ourselves and our surroundings.

Playing with strong contrasts, dimensions and colour gradients, a mix of materials and craft techniques such as relief or carving has resulted in three-dimensional designer pieces that challenge you to view them from different perspectives, to touch and to feel them.

Thanks to their dramatic designs, sculptural dimensionality and the professional craftsmanship, each of them is a masterpiece that attracts attention wherever it is placed.

COOPERATION

Our regional production partners

The carpet collection was realised in cooperation with the company JAB Anstoetz from Bielefeld in Germany, which continues to manufacture each and every single piece. Our long-standing collaboration based on mutual trust guarantees that everything runs smoothly when each individual carpet is ordered, produced and delivered.

SUSTAINABILITY

Efficient use of water

A key aspect of sustainable production is the efficient use of water, a precious resource that plays an important role in the manufacture of hand-tufted carpets. The works in Thailand use an innovative water treatment system that reduces the water consumption and ensures that the water is fully reused. Excess water is used for the surrounding plantations. This reduces the environmental pollution and promotes a more sustainable production process.
